After an involuntary tour of several African and European airports and the added "privilege" of exploring these for a good few hours at a time during a journey which lasted--well, just slightly longer than planned (!), we are pleased to report that the Kili bunch are now finally back home and safe--hopefully sleeping and resting (although we know that one of them has already gone off sailing!!!)
Then there are of course those who are frolicking in the Tanzanian sun, enjoying safaris and/or preparing visits to the Tigers Club Project in Uganda......we hope to hear from them when they get back from their "jollies".... See you all soon!

Kilimanjaro 2004

Conquer Africa’s highest mountain
and help street children conquer mountains of their own

Kilimanjaro Diary

Day 9
31st July 2004

< BackForward >

Are you wondering what it must have felt like for our Kili bunch to wake up this morning with a tremendous sense of achievement, descend through moorlands and the forest glades through rain forest to the Park Gate at Mweka? Well, not long now until they are back with us, back near mobile phones, back in the world of modern technology....near a shower, a comfortable bed with pillows and sheets, back with their bags which contain clean clothes and lighter shoes than the faithful walking boots which have carried them up the mountain.

As soon as they get back they will, no doubt, dive into the shower, close their eyes and rest...and then get ready for their well deserved gala dinner in the evening which will mean a happy reunion with all those climbers who had to leave the mountain early and an opportunity to hear THEIR tales about their safari....did they get to see those Colobus monkeys??????

Knowing how amazing they all are, they will be raising their glasses not only to each other and to their achievement, but also to the Tigers boys in Kampala and to the staff team there who are making such a difference in the lives of street children. And there is a strong chance that, drumming on the table and clapping and cheering, they will share the Tigers experience by beginning their meal with our most famous of raps, the ONE AND ONLY TIGERS RAP.....

"....Tigers are the best and we're here to stay
All we want to say is THANK YOU........"
