Kilimanjaro 2004 Challenge
On Saturday July 10th two of the Trustees, Karen Brown & Ann Start presented The Tigers Club Project at a fundraising family BBQ in the French Alps. Organised by Ann & Chris Start at their home in the beautiful ski village of Praz sur Arly, around 50 people gathered to share a family fun day. Those attending represented countries from around the world. A brave seven hikers climbed to the top of the Cret du Midi, just over 1,800 metres (good preparation for Karen and Ann) following coffee at a local watering hole. The owners of the Darbelo hotel and restaurant kindly hosted us and have offered sponsorship. The hike to the top and back took around 5 hours. Meanwhile families enjoyed the attractions of the surrounding area during the day and met at the Starts chalet for the BBQ from around 4pm.
Before dessert, Karen and Ann were able to talk through the project and the reasons for their planned hike up Kilimanjaro. Enthusiastic listeners-friends and colleagues from work, plus representatives from another 2 local businesses, Darby Sport bike & ski hire and Allards immobilier estate agency, responded very generously to Chris`s plea for sponsorship at the close.
